Under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 each local area within the State is required to have a Workforce Investment Board. The Local Board is appointed by the local elected official(s) and is certified every two years by the Governor. The Governor is also responsible for establishing the criteria for use by the chief elected official(s) in appointing the Local Board members.
